Mental Health Services for Children, Adolescents, Adults & Families
Our clients find hope and empowerment to regain control of their emotional, social and psychological well-being through The Guidance Center's mental health support programs.
Our treatment team consists of board certified psychiatrists, licensed clinical social workers and counselors, certified rehabilitation counselors and other mental health professionals. Our talented professional team help more than 1,400 people each year.
Child, Adolescent, Adult and Family Clinics
The Guidance Center is here to help find the answers when children, teens or adults ask: “Why is everything in my life so difficult? Why doesn’t anyone understand me? Why do I feel so alone? How can I be more successful?” Our individual, family and group therapy sessions can help manage issues relating to:
- Poor communications skills
- Family problems
- School Difficulties
- Work pressures
- Self Esteem
- Drug and Alcohol Abuse
- Child Abuse/Domestic Violence
- Relationships

Family Unity
Family Unity works to prevent the reoccurrence of child abuse and increase family cohesion. We provide assessment, services, child and family treatment and parenting skills training, as well as referrals to other support services in the community. Family Unity is funded through a generous grant by Hedge Funds Care and is available in New Rochelle and Port Chester.
STRIDES
Person-Centered Rehabilitation & Recovery-Oriented Day Treatment
A complete, holistic day treatment program for individuals with psychiatric disability, STRIDES puts the individual’s strengths and interests at the core of the recovery process, thus fostering growth and change. STRIDES offers variety of programs and activities throughout the day: group and individual therapy, art, dance and movement therapy, yoga and vocational programs are just a sampling of the many activities offered.
New Beginnings Club
New Beginnings is a social club made up of adults who are at various stages of recovery and wellness with a mental health diagnosis. Social trips to movies, shopping malls and other entertainment facilities help clients learn to embrace being part of a community.
Phone Buddies
Participants in our New Beginning Club often take part in Phone Buddies, calling other mental health clients who need support during the evenings and weekends. The friendly and supportive telephone calls help alleviate loneliness and encourage communication and a connection to others.
Surprise Lake Camp
For seven days, just after Labor Day, mental health clients can relax and enjoy the peaceful surroundings at Surprise Lake Camp. Led by peer mentors, the week is a break from the daily rigor of treatment and allows individuals to flourish as they experience new activities in a soothing natural setting.
Training & Community Living (TCL) / Dual Recovery Programs (DRP)
The Training in Community Living/ Dual Recovery Programs serve adolescents and adults who struggle with mental health issues as well as a drug or alcohol dependency. TCL/DRP operates at our 277 North Avenue or 95 Lincoln Avenue, New Rochelle locations.
