Headlines across the country announce the need for trained, certified trades people, and the Center for College & Careers is set to help young people attain the certification necessary to get a job in high demand fields.
"Thanks to funding by the Westchester Community Foundation and a partnership with Soulful Synergy, we are ready to offer FutureWorks!, a FREE credentials and certification course for people 17-24 years old from New Rochelle and Mount Vernon who are interested in getting a job in construction," says deputy executive director for the Center for College & Careers Daniel Bonnet.
The first session began March 4 and runs for four weeks (9 AM - 5 PM), with two weeks of required certification courses and two weeks of optional certification and hands-on learning. Certification courses all satisfy the 30-hour training requirement for New York City's Local Law 196 of 2017. Certification courses include:
- 4-hr. Supported Scaffld
- 3-hr. Flagger
- CPr/AED/First Aid
- GPRO - Fundamentals of Green
- Security Guard
- F60 & S60 Certification Test
Requirements for this FREE training:
- 17-24 years old
- high school diploma or GED/HSE
- resident of Mount Vernon or New Rochelle*

FutureWorks! is funded through the generosity of the Westchester Community Foundation. The program is presented in partnership between The Guidance Center of Westchester and Soulful Synergy.
*The course is available to those who are outside the residency and age parameters for a fee of $1800.
