Our 2018 Gala was truly an O-M-G (One Magnificent Gala) kind of night! Thanks to our board of directors, sponsors, friends, and supporters, the Gala raised more than $450,000 to support our programs and services!
We have so much for which to be grateful regarding the success of the event which was co-chaired by Mitzi Ambrose-Washington and Audrey Mlotek. Our heartfelt appreciation to our gracious and kind honorees Lori Hall Armstrong, Stanley M. Bergman and HENRY SCHEIN INC., Frank Hariton, and Fredi Vicario.
Special thanks to The Legendary Chris Washington, emcee Kim Berns and auctioneer Scott Trepel.
Centerpieces for the night were planted cared for by participants in the horticultural course offered through our Personalized Recovery-Oriented Services (PROS) program. PROS integrates rehabilitation, treatment, and support for people living with serious mental illness. Board director Kathy Hagendorf lends her expertise each week in teaching the participants about gardening. You can read more about the PROS horticultural program in our Spring 2018 newsletter.
As a way to demonstrate how the work of The Guidance Center of Westchester touches everyone's life, each attendee was given a small flashlight. The darkened room began to shine as attendees turned on their flashlights in response to questions about mental health, substance use, autism, homelessness and access to educational resources. It was a beautiful and bonding moment. You can see it here.
