‘Not Black Enough’ - CCC exclusive screening, Q&A

Participants in our Center for College & Careers will be treated to an exclusive screening of “Not Black Enough.” The award-winning film follows a young African-American struggling to find his identity in the Black Community.

Director Jermaine Manigault will lead an in-person Q&A after the film. Mr. Manigault is co-owner of 30 Hours Productions and founder of Young Black Creators Initiative, a mentorship program for Black youth to educate them on the wide range of roles behind the camera to help empower them when deciding a career path.

Not Black Enough (2020) features Patrick Decile, one of the breakout stars of 2017’s Academy Award® Best Picture winner “Moonlight” (2016) and Corey Knight from HBO’s “We Are Who We Are” (2020). The film garnered mentions in The New York Times and Variety before its debut. It has screened at nine international festivals (four Oscar & five BAFTA Qualifying). The film is part of the “Who Will Start Another Fire” anthology collection distributed by Kino Lorber & Dedza Films and screened in the “By Any Means” exhibit co-programmed by Jermaine at The Museum of Modern Art, dedicated to films featuring Black realities from emerging voices whose presence on the 2020 film festival circuit was disproportionately impacted by the pandemic.

The screening will take place at 1 PM on Thursday, November 11 at 256 Washington Street in Mount Vernon.

Interested participants should RSVP to Ms. Carter by texting: 914-529-2803. Young people from Mount Vernon and New Rochelle interested in joining the CCC can also text Ms. Carter.
